Quick start with Docker

Try TeselaDB in a container without installing anything but Docker.

You will start TeselaDB in a Docker container and connect to it from your machine. It is the shortest way to try it if you already have Docker.

What you will get

A node in a container, with the data in a volume and the client port open on your machine. It takes about five minutes.

Before you begin

You need Docker and mongosh. The image version is the one shown in Download.

Step 1. Start the container

Shell
docker run -d --name teseladb -p 27017:27017 -v teseladb-data:/data \
  teseladb/teseladb:<version> start --dbpath /data --insecure --insecure-allow-remote --bind_ip 0.0.0.0

With --insecure the node starts without TLS or users, and --insecure-allow-remote lets it listen outside 127.0.0.1 so the container port reaches your machine. This mode is only for trying it locally.

Step 2. Connect

Shell
mongosh "mongodb://127.0.0.1:27017/"

Check that it works

Connect with mongosh and run db.runCommand({ ping: 1 }). If the node is serving, the answer is { ok: 1 }, the same one a MongoDB server gives.

Clean up

Shell
docker stop teseladb
docker rm teseladb

The teseladb-data volume keeps the data; delete it with docker volume if you no longer want it.
