Connect Claude, Cursor and other agents

Configure an MCP client to use TeselaDB.

Configure an MCP client, such as Claude or Cursor, so its agent queries TeselaDB. Desktop clients launch it over stdio with teseladb mcp.

Requirements

  • The teseladb binary on the client's machine.
  • An API key and the cluster CA.

Over stdio

Add the server to your client's MCP configuration. The mcpServers, command, args and env keys are the ones Claude and Cursor use:

JSON
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "teseladb": {
      "command": "teseladb",
      "args": ["mcp", "--uri", "https://node-01:27080", "--tlsCAFile", "./ca.pem"],
      "env": { "TESELADB_API_KEY": "tdb_…" }
    }
  }
}

Over HTTP

A client that speaks Streamable HTTP connects to https://<node>:27080/mcp with the key in Authorization: Bearer.

Check

When you ask the agent to list your databases, it calls the list-databases tool and returns the databases your key sees.

Common problems

  • The client does not start the server because teseladb is not on the client's PATH. Use the full path in command.
